Paris. The eternally fashionable city whose name evokes style, excitement and emotion. Little wonder that it should have inspired Opel designers to their latest creation.
From first glance, the coupe form is immediately futuristic, yet reassuring. Even standing still the Opel GTC Paris delivers an exhilarating impression of speed. But Paris is also the spiritual home of modern sculpture, of Auguste Rodin and Alberto Giacometti, and the dynamic exterior design reflects this. Like them, the Opel designers have sought new ways to express the fluidity of movement in metal, taking the Opel philosophy of sculptural artistry meets German precision to a new level.
A real driver’s cockpit
Echoing the sculpted exterior design, the driver focused cockpit of the GTC Paris is totally infused by the quote "and the speed was pure beauty" from Richard Bach’s novel Jonathan Livingstone Seagull, that is laser etched into the seat material.
The sporty bucket seats have been specially developed for the GTC Paris, and their defined contours perfectly compliment the overall dynamic spirit of the car. The driver’s seat is red, the front passengers is black, repeating the positive/negative use of colour in the interior, where red stitching contrasts with black fabrics.
Just as the design reaches to the future, so does the technology of the Opel GTC Paris. Demonstrating Opel expertise in downsizing a turbocharged, direct injected 2.0 Turbo ECOTEC® delivering a lean and clean 290PS (213kW) ensures impressive performance. This all-alloy engine features twin scroll turbocharging and double camshaft phasing for increased low end torque and turbine-like acceleration. Twin balance shafts guarantee smooth and cultivated driving comfort.
Advanced chassis technology
The chassis of the Opel GTC Paris has a special design with an extra-wide stance for the best possible performance and handling. The compound crank rear axle enhanced with a Watt’s link enables the crisp handling and high comfort that is celebrated hallmark on the current Astra. Keeping the advantages of size, weight and overall efficiency of the compound crank rear axle layout over a classical multi-link design, the architecture with its additional Watt’s link also makes the car dynamic and agile without compromising on stability and comfort.
The GTC Paris also features the FlexRide system, which continuously adapts the suspension to changes in driving style and cornering speed. Apart from a more rewarding driving experience, FlexRide also offers safety benefits as it enhances the vehicle stability in all conditions.
