The Insignia petrol engine range starts with the high-tech, low consumption 1.4i 16v Turbo with 140PS (103kW) through to the 2.8 V6 Turbo engine with 260PS (191 kW).
For fans of diesel power, there are two highly economical common rail diesel engines, delivering 130PS (96 kW) and 160PS (118 kW).
All Insignia diesel engines feature double overhead camshaft and 4-valve technology. The variable geometry turbocharger ensures smooth acceleration and virtually eliminates turbo lag.
Opel has been at the forefront of green automotive initiatives for many years, and despite their green credentials, Insignia ecoFLEX engines do not compromise on power. The 2.0 CDTi ecoFLEX engine delivers 160 PS with a combined consumption of only 3.7 litres and cuts CO2 emissions to just 115 g/km, positioning it in tax band A.
By optimising engine performance, adapting the final drive ratio, further refining the aerodynamics, fitting low-rolling resistance tyres and using a gear shift-indicator, Insignia ecoFLEX models protect the environment without compromising on driving performance.
Insignia’s Start/Stop System is standard on 1.4i 16v Turbo petrol engines and both 2.0CDTi 16v (130hp/160hp) engines with manual transmission.
The Start/Stop System further increases fuel savings, especially in city traffic. The engine stops when the car comes to a standstill when the transmission is in neutral, the engine starts instantly as soon as the clutch pedal is depressed to move-off again. The system can be activated/deactivated via a button on the centre console. When the system is active and the engine is stopped, the rev-counter needle points to the ’AUTOSTOP‘ position to signal readiness for automatic start. The Start/Stop System uses an enhanced alternator, starter, and a specially designed battery.
All Opel Insignia transmissions are six-speed. Whether your choice is manual or automatic, the exceptional precision and technology of the new transmissions help deliver the optimum in fuel efficiency together with maximum driving enjoyment and satisfaction. The automatic transmission features ActiveSelect® for sequential shifting.
