What should I do next?
We are committed to your safety and working with retailers and technicians to provide safe, free repairs as quickly as possible. It does not matter if you bought your Stellantis car new or used, here are the steps you can take:

I want to check to see if my VIN is affected

Please use the VIN Check above to check if your vehicle is affected by a Takata recall. You will then be able to register for a free repair and will be contacted by your retailer when appointments are available.

I know that my vehicle is affected and I want to schedule a free repair.

To schedule a repair, please contact your authorised Opel retailer directly.

I’m new to this. Who can assist me?

If you have never heard of this issue before, have questions, or do not know where to start, you can contact your local Opel Dealer for advice.

Why was my airbag recalled?

The recalled Takata airbag inflators can degrade over time and may rupture in a crash, shooting sharp metal fragments that can cause serious injury or death.

How do I know if I have a Takata Airbag, and how do I find my VIN number?
You can find your VIN on your registration documents, insurance card, or in these car locations: front of engine block under hood; driver’s side interior dash; front end of frame (older cars); driver’s side door jam (inside).
What caused the problem?
The chemicals in these recalled airbags can deteriorate over time, especially in hot and humid weather. This can cause the airbags to explode, even in minor crashes, leading to serious injury or even death.
What is the remedy for this recall?

All Takata airbag recall repairs are fast, free, and easy.

A certified technician will remove the recalled airbag cannister and replace it with a new one. Opel will cover the cost of parts and labour when this is done at an authorised retailer.

What does it mean if I have a 'Stop Drive' Notice?
If your vehicle is under a Stop Drive Measure, stop driving immediately. Your vehicle is at a greater risk of having an airbag that could rupture in a crash. We will arrange your repair as quickly as possible, and work with you to ensure alternative transportation. In the meantime, please make sure your vehicle is not in use, and that everyone with access to the vehicle is notified.
Who can I contact if I have questions?
Your Local Opel Dealer is best equipped to advise on any questions you may have. You can find your Local Opel Dealer by clicking the links above.
Do I need to notify the owner of the vehicle before bringing it in for repair?

Anyone can bring a vehicle in for a recall repair without question. No title, proof of ownership, or documentation is required.

A retailer may ask for your contact information to notify you of any recalls that could be issued for your vehicle in the future. You don’t need to provide any information you aren’t comfortable sharing, but it would allow the dealership to keep you informed so you can maintain the safety of your vehicle.

Can I bring the vehicle to my local mechanic to have the recall carried out?
You need to get your repair completed by an authorised Opel Dealer in order to get the free parts and labour.
My vehicle is outside warranty, are the repairs still covered?
Yes, Takata recall repairs are free regardless of warranty status. In fact, it is mostly older models of Opel that are affected by this recall.
