The Irish Government's new ICE2EV Scrappage Scheme is designed to help motorists replace older petrol and diesel vehicles with a brand-new electric vehicle. Eligible customers can receive up to €8,500 in support, made up of a new €5,000 scrappage incentive and the existing €3,500 SEAI EV Grant. Applications are expected to open in July 2026 through participating EV retailers
Who Can Qualify?
You may be eligible if:
- You own a petrol or diesel vehicle registered in 2013 or earlier
- The vehicle has been in your ownership for at least 12 months
- It is taxed and insured, with an NCT that is current or expired by no more than six months
- You are purchasing a new, grant-eligible Opel electric vehicle registered as a private passenger car
- Your existing vehicle is scrapped through the participating Opel retailer as part of the purchase process
